How to make one

  1. Find the latitude and longitude. In Google Maps, long-press the place and read the numbers.
  2. Enter latitude first, then longitude. Bengaluru is about 12.97 and 77.59.
  3. Download the code and scan it to confirm the pin.

The code stores a Google Maps link for the latitude and longitude. Phones open it in their maps app. A geo: link is less reliable on iPhone, so we use the maps link.

Questions

Where do I find the two numbers?
Open the place in maps, drop a pin, and copy the latitude and longitude. Latitude comes first and is between -90 and 90.
Does this share my live location?
No. The code always opens the same pin. It does not track anyone.
Will it open without Google Maps?
The link is a maps address. Android and iPhone usually hand it to the maps app the person already uses.
